Terms of Service

These terms are a straightforward agreement between you and NoteQuiz. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. The service

NoteQuiz uses AI to read study notes you upload and generate multiple-choice quizzes, explanations, flashcards and practice results. The service is in beta: features may change, break, or be withdrawn, and there is no paid plan or service-level guarantee.

2. Your account

• You must provide accurate account information and keep your password secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old, or use the service with a guardian.
• One person per account; do not share credentials to bypass limits.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of the notes you upload and the quizzes you edit. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and transmit that content only to operate the service — including sending it to Google's Gemini API to generate quizzes. You confirm that you have the right to upload the material and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload illegal, harmful, or other people's private data without permission.
• Attempt to bypass rate limits, quotas, authentication, or row-level security.
• Probe, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the service or its APIs.
• Use the service to build a competing dataset or resell generated output as a data product.
• Upload malware or content designed to disrupt the service.

We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules or create risk for other users or for the service's free-tier costs.

5. AI output is not authoritative

Quizzes are generated automatically and can be wrong, incomplete, or misread your handwriting. They are study aids, not textbooks, medical advice, legal advice, or exam answers. Always check important facts against your source material. You can edit or delete any question before practising.

6. Free beta limits

To keep the free beta sustainable, accounts are limited to 3 quiz generations per day, up to 10 questions per quiz, and 5 uploads of up to 10 MB each per generation. Additional per-user and per-IP rate limits apply. Limits reset on a UTC-day basis and may change with reasonable notice.

7. Availability and changes

We may modify, pause, or discontinue any part of the service, including during maintenance or if third-party AI or hosting providers change their terms. We aim to give notice of significant changes but are not obligated to preserve any particular feature or data forever.

8. Termination

You can stop using NoteQuiz at any time and delete your quizzes from the dashboard. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms or to protect the service. On termination, the licence you granted us to process your content ends, subject to backups and legal retention needs.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NoteQuiz and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost marks, or lost opportunities arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which, during the free beta, is zero.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory local consumer law.
